The United States Mission to Somalia is planning to relocate its offices from Nairobi to Mogadishu, Somalia later this year, US Ambassador to Somalia told Mustaqbal Radio in an exclusive Interview.
US Ambassador to Somalia Stephen Schwartz said the relocation, which is expected to happen around August will help the US Government increase it’s presence in Somalia with more than 30 US diplomats working in Somalia on daily basis.
He also said United States Government will work closely with Somalia government on security, humanitarian and fulfilling national development plans.
Ambassador Schwartz said US Consulate was opened in Somalia on 1958 and a permanent Embassy in Somalia, the US biggest Embassy in Africa up until 1991. He hopes one day US will rebuild it’s Embassy in down town Mogadishu.
